Titan Pro-4X

                Americans love their trucks. In fact, during the first 9 months of 2016, one out of every eight vehicles sold in the US were large pickup trucks. The best-selling truck in American is the Ford F-150, last year the F-150 out sold the best-selling car, the Toyota Camry 2-1. Introducing the Rogue Sport

In the culture of Americans loving their SUVs, Nissan has added to their lineup another SUV. Introduced at the North American International Auto Show, Nissan unveiled Rogue Sport. Following in the footsteps on its big brother the Rogue, the Rogue Sport is expected to generate huge sales for Nissan.

Nissan Recalls

                Recently, there have been recalls on a few different Nissan models. And cars and truck alike are included in this round of recalls.

                First off, the 2016 Nissan Titan XD is being recalled to a problem in the fuel system. The problem isn’t as serious as one might think, the problem lies in a fuel tank breather tube that wasn’t connected to the bed rail as it should have been. This causes the fuel tank to not have proper ventilation and can screw with the fuel gauge reading as well as through off the “distance to empty” readout. The vehicles affected are the 2016 Titan XD equipped with the diesel V8 and were built between August of 2015 and September 2016. Around 12,000 Titan’s will be recalled in total.

               

               

Nissan has yet to say when notifications are to going to be sent out as they are continuing to investigate the problem.

                Nissan is also issuing a recall on a host of late model vehicles. 134,000 in total will be recalled, the 2016-17 Maxima, 2015-17 Murano and 2015-16 Murano Hybrid are all on the list. These vehicles are only included in the recall if they contain Nissan's Intelligent Cruise Control, which is its fancy name for adaptive cruise. The issue lies with an anti-lock brake actuator pump that comes as part of the semi-autonomous feature. This pump may leak brake fluid onto a circuit board under the vehicle's hood, which can cause a fire in the engine bay. The fix involves replacing the ABS actuator in question.

                Drivers are told to use caution, pay attention to how long the ABS light stays on when the vehicle is first started. If the light stays on for longer than 10 seconds, you are supposed to park the vehicle and call the dealership. Nissan has yet to begin sending notifications, but will begin soon.

Nissan and the Self Driving Car

How do car companies plan on informing pedestrians and other drivers to what their self-driving car is going to do? Nissan has a plan, and that is to display messages on the windshield and light patterns on the bumpers. That’s at least how they envision it working out.

That is the main challenge that Nissan is facing, finding a way to have their self-driving cars interact safely with humans on the streets and in their vehicles. One of the concerns is say when a car approaches a red light and plans to make a right hand turn, the car needs to be aware of of all of the traffic so it can turn safely. The self-driving cars must also follow socially acceptable practice, what is acceptable in one country might not be acceptable somewhere else.

Nissan is trying to address this problem by coming up with a way for their self-driving car to communicate with other drivers and cars. One of the ideas they have is to install lighting into the car that would flash certain colors to tell other drivers what they intend to do. It would be similar to how people recognize and react to traffic lights. The other is to have a message display on the windshield to tell pedestrians directly what they are doing, for example the windshield may read After You  to a pedestrian to let the pedestrian know they are safe to cross the road.

                Another concern that automakers are having regarding the autonomous self-driving car is what happens in a power failure. In traditional vehicles, you still can control the steering and braking to prevent accidents. But with an autonomous vehicle, all the mechanics run through a central computer, and a power failure could spell disaster. However knowing Nissan, they with extensively test all options before they make it available to the public.

The New Nissan Juke is Coming!

New Nissan Juke set for 2017 arrival with greener engines, a hybrid version, upgraded technology and an all-new platform.

The Nissan Juke really popularized the supermini-SUV class, paving the way for a whole wave of competing models like the Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur and more recently the Audi Q2. Now Nissan is set to unveil the second-generation of the Juke, improving upon the current model so it can really compete against its rivals. The new Juke will be more refined, more efficient, and will improve in some other crucial areas such as cabin quality.

Well-placed sources within Nissan point out that the car still sells over 100,000 examples a year globally. Nissan’s chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura has revealed the next generation will remain “edgy and less mainstream”, but acknowledged that it would still be recognizable as a Juke. That means the styling will retain key Juke cues, such as the high-mounted headlights and distinct wheelarch blisters. But it will also incorporate Nissan’s new ‘face’.

With the new redesigned Juke there’ll be a slightly longer wheelbase, as Nissan aims to address one of the main criticisms of the current car: rear legroom. The move to the new chassis will open the Juke up to a new range of engines, including 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo gas engine. A 1.5-litre diesel will continue to be offered, alongside a 1.6-litre turbocharged gas engine that’s likely to be the range-topper, with an output of around 190bhp.

Nissan sources have also hinted that the next Juke could also get a hybrid variant, using a range-extender powertrain. When asked if the next Juke would feature some form of electrification, Nakamura told us: “It is very tough to meet our emissions requirements without hybrid. It is almost mandatory.”

The Juke is likely to not show up for awhile, though; we could see a concept within the next six months, ahead of a production car debut in autumn and sales starting before the end of 2017.
